Family Day events happening in Greater Victoria in 2025

This Monday marks Family Day, a chance to focus on quality time with your loved ones and make lasting memories with your kids, parents, siblings, and chosen family. 

There are plenty of fun activities this weekend throughout Victoria for people of all ages. Get creative at the art gallery, check out a museum to learn something new, or head to your local rec centre for a free swim or craft workshop. You don’t have to wait until Monday either—many events kick off Saturday, so you can keep your weekend jam-packed with activities.

Family Day Weekend Storybook Walks | Fri. - Mon. | Self-guided

Embark on a self-guided Storybook Walk at four Langford parks and The Langford Station. Enjoy reading pages from beloved books like "Jamberry" and "Zoe & the Fawn" as you stroll through nature. [Free]

Family Day at the Sidney Museum | Sat. to Mon. | 10am-4pm
Visit the museum this long weekend for some family fun, featuring the Beacon Avenue scavenger hunt, watching LEGO® certified professional Robin Sather build a model of the Hawaii Mars, the Peninsula Co-op Community mosaic, a display at the Sidney Pier Hotel, and more. [By donation]

Family Day Free classes at SPINCO Westshore | Sat., Sun. and Mon. | Various times
Experience high-energy, full-body spin workouts at SPINCO Westshore during Family Day weekend. [Free. Waitlist]

Magic, Songs, and Storytime at Westshore Town Centre | Sat. | Various times

Enjoy interactive storytime sessions with princesses and superheroes, sing along with Melody Moonshaker, and experience magic shows by Derek "Magic" Johnson and Mr. Mojo at Westshore Town Centre. [Free]

Family Day Weekend at Carr House | Sat. | 10am-3pm

Bring the whole family for stories and crafts inspired by historic toys and pastimes at Emily Carr House. [By donation]

Family Coding Workshops | Sat. | 9:15am, 2pm, and 3pm

Enjoy a free one-hour family coding workshop at Code Ninjas in Langford, designed for families to embark on a learning adventure across a variety of coding concepts. Informative and fun for kids ages 6-14 and all parents. [Free]

Westshore Cineplex Free Movie Screenings | Sat. 10am and Sun. 1pm

The City of Langford has partnered with Cineplex Odeon Westshore Cinemas to bring free movie screenings for families. First come, first served. Movies: Kung Fu Panda on Sat. at 10am and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Sun. at 1pm. [Free]

Family FUNday | Sun. | 9am-12pm

Enjoy storytelling, dress-up, crafts, and imaginative play for the whole family at Kaleidoscope Theatre. [Free]

Family Sunday at the Art Gallery | Sun. | 2pm

Celebrate Black History Month with local artist Aya Behr leading an exciting art project at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV). There will be a scavenger hunt throughout the gallery. Admission is free for visitors aged 25 and under, AGGV members, See Art Pass holders, Indigenous people, and support workers. [$15. Free for 25 and under]

DWTN Winter Lime | Mon. | 10am-6pm

This new cultural and family-friendly event is happening at Ship Point in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The free event promises to bring a burst of Caribbean warmth to the winter season, with tasty food, a market, and live music.. [Free]

PlayZone Play Day  | Mon. | 10am-6pm

Enjoy free access to the PlayZone at City Centre Park, featuring a goldmine-themed indoor playground. Parents can relax in the designated area while kids explore the play structure. [Free]

Board Game Fun at The Outpost Board Game Cafe | Mon. | 11am-7pm

Enjoy free access to The Outpost Board Game Cafe on Family Day. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. [Free]

Family Day at the Royal BC Museum | Mon. | All day

Enjoy admission by donation at the Royal BC Museum, featuring exhibits like the 60th edition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and discover what’s new in the core galleries, including the latest addition to Old Town, New Approach: The Hayashi Photography Studio. [By donation]

Family Day at the IMAX® Victoria | Mon. | All day

IMAX® Victoria offers $2 entry to all documentary films throughout the day. A free Family Day Activity Guide is available for extra fun. On Family Day, films include The Trolley, Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels, Arctic: Our Frozen Planet, and Space: The New Frontier. [$2]

‍Esquimalt Family Day | Mon. | 10am-1pm

Take your kids to this day of swimming, skating, kinder gym, and other fun-filled activities at Esquimalt Rec Centre. 

Family Fun House | Mon. | 10am-4pm

An all-ages electronic music experience at the Downbeat Event Centre, focused on education, creativity, and community. Whether you have a tiny dancer, a future DJ, or you’re just there for the vibes, this is a space to express yourself, learn, and connect through music and movement. There will be dance workshops, face painting, silent disco, snacks, and more. [By donation]

Street Hockey Event | Mon. | 11am-2pm 

Show off your skills with Canada’s favourite pastime. The Westshore RCMP and Langford Fire Department are teaming up to bring you a street hockey event at Veterans Memorial Park. There will be two hockey arenas, information booths with swag, hot dogs, chips, and juice. [By donation]

Saanich Family Arts Festival | Mon. | 11am-3pm

A fun-filled family event celebrating imagination, creativity, and discovery. Kids of all ages will explore a wide variety of activities led by Arts Centre staff and guest instructors from the region’s arts and culture community, as well as watch and listen to an array of live performances. At the Cedar Hill Arts and Recreation Centre. [Free]

Welcome Day Celebration and Newcomer Expo | Mon. | 11am-4pm

Visit Saanich Commonwealth Place and experience the 11th Welcome Day Celebration and Newcomer Expo, where there will be a lineup of activities, including youth activities, a multicultural market, a newcomer expo, and a cultural showcase. [Free]

Explore & Play at the Royal Theatre | Mon. | 12-3pm

Step behind the scenes at the Royal Theatre with Pacific Opera Victoria and the Victoria Symphony. Enjoy interactive stations, crafts, backstage tours, and pop-up performances. Activities include making your own crown with Kaleidoscope Theatre, fashioning up some fox headbands, interacting with giant bird puppets, or trying out a musical instrument at VS’s Instrument Petting Zoo. Family Fun Day at Royal Bay | Mon. | 12-2pm

Celebrate Family Day with an afternoon of fun at Meadow Park. Enjoy time with family and neighbours while the kids jump and play in the inflatable bouncy zones. Watch as they explore the bubble dome, filled with floating balloons, or gather for a family photo to capture the day. [Free]

Everyone Welcome Swim and Skate in Sidney | Mon. | 1pm

Enjoy Family Day with Panorama Recreation Centre with swimming and skating—skate rentals and helmets are available. [$2]

Family Day Music Bingo | Mon. | 2:30pm-4:30pm

Join Esquimalt Recreation and Original Music Bingo for an exciting, family-friendly music bingo event at Jubilee Hall!. There will be a round of a mix of hits across all genres and a Taylor Swift round. Pre-registration is required for all participants. [Free]
