Fire destroys Garden Fork Restaurant near Butterfly Gardens in Brentwood Bay
Flames broke out early Saturday morning at the Garden Fork Restaurant, located at the corner of Keating Cross and West Saanich near Butterfly Gardens in Brentwood Bay, leaving the building a burnt, gutted shell. Firefighters from the Central Saanich Fire Department—located just across the roadway—were quick to respond, and were joined by Saanich firefighters.
Central Saanich Fire reported in a social media post that crews arrived at 3:01am to find a fire heavily involved in the basement, main floor, and attic, and that the building sustained significant damage. No injuries were reported.
Garden Fork announced in a social media post that the restaurant would be closed until further notice, adding: "We are thankful that everyone is safe and would like to thank the firefighters and emergency responders for their quick response." The restaurant, which opened 10 months ago, has had previous incarnations at the same location, including Sassy's, Smitty's, and most recently Floyd's Diner.
